The International Dance Academy has been providing a comprehensive dance
instruction program at the international schools in Tokyo for more than
20 years. Ballet, jazz, tap, character and MTV dance are taught by our
highly qualified teachers whose expertise and experience ensure safe training,
the necessary discipline of dance and a great atmosphere. Through these
well-taught, structured classes, injected with fun and enthusiasm, our
students develop strength, agility, coordination, secure posture, rhythm,
flexibility and musicality. Most importantly, self-confidence and self-esteem
emerge naturally from expert dance instruction. All who participate will
be walking tall and gracefully before you know it.
The director of The International Dance Academy, Mr. Mikio Ikehata, currently
runs two dance schools, in Tokyo and in Kanagawa prefecture; his former
students perform with professional ballet and dance companies worldwide.
The International Dance Academy holds classes at The International School
of the Sacred Heart, Seisen International School, The British School in
Tokyo, The American School in Japan, New International School of Japan, and at private studios around Tokyo.
We focus on the enjoyment of dance for all-beginners or advanced, once-a-week
tappers or dedicated potential future ballet stars. Many of our pupils
have progressed to professional dance schools, and many more have experienced
dancing as a pleasure and a memory, cherished after childhood, which encouraged
an appreciation of dance and movement throughout adult life Our ballet
program includes preparing students for the Royal Academy of Dance examinations,
and we have outstanding exam results. The Royal Academy of Dance (R.A.D.),
which has over 13,000 members spread across 83 countries, is one of the
largest and most influential dance education and training organizations
in the world (www.rad.org.uk). We attribute our 100 percent pass rate with
the R.A.D. to the individual attention every International Dance Academy
student receives throughout our ballet program and exam preparation classes.
